Hampton Health was founded during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic when husband-and-wife nurse practitioners Duane Hampton and Jeannie Ocasio-Hampton recognized the growing need for trusted, accessible healthcare in their community. After taking over a retiring physician’s practice in 2019, they combined their expertise in primary care and mental health to create Hampton Health. Their founding vision was to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care that focuses on the whole person rather than just treating symptoms.

How has your personal journey shaped the way you care for your patients today?


As healthcare providers, parents, and caregivers, we understand the challenges people face when balancing health, family, work, and everyday life. These experiences help us approach patient care with empathy, recognizing that successful treatment plans must fit into real-life circumstances.

Can you share a memorable experience from your involvement in local community events or volunteer work?


Opening our Hopewell Junction location and becoming part of the local community has been incredibly rewarding. We value opportunities to connect with residents, support community wellness initiatives, and provide healthcare resources that help improve the lives of our neighbors.

What inspired you to pursue a career in medicine and what continues to motivate you every day?


For both of us, healthcare was inspired by early exposure to the medical field and a desire to help others. We are motivated every day by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, whether through improving health outcomes, providing support during difficult times, or helping patients achieve their wellness goals.

At what time in your life did you decide to become a healthcare professional?


Jeannie’s interest in advanced patient care developed while working as a nuclear medicine technologist and interacting closely with nurses. Duane’s decision evolved while working at Mount Sinai Hospital, where exposure to healthcare professionals inspired him to pursue nursing and eventually become a Nurse Practitioner.

What experience inspired you to become a doctor?


Jeannie was inspired by her experiences working in healthcare and raising her children, which sparked her interest in nursing and patient care. Duane was inspired by his work at Mount Sinai Hospital and the impact he saw healthcare professionals have on patients’ lives. Both were drawn to careers that would allow them to build meaningful relationships with patients and make a lasting difference in their health and well-being.
